Please read this letter from Allington Parish Council to all residents.
Allington Parish Council
Dear Resident,
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and we thought we would take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and offer more visibility as to who we are and what we do including some of the challenges we face and share some of our exciting plans going forward.
For 2025 your current Parish Councillors are:
Sally Reynolds Chair Sue Marvin Vice Chair
John Plummer Chris Baron
Antony Scott Claire Storer
As the Parish Council we work together to represent the interests of all our village residents and advocate their needs within local government. We manage our local amenities, we give views on behalf of our community on planning applications and other proposals which affect the parish, we alert relevant authorities of problems that arise or work that needs to be undertaken and help local government keep in touch with their local community.
Our village is a welcoming, attractive and vibrant community and we as the Parish Council would like to thank all of the many and varied groups who work tirelessly to make our village such a great place to live.
If you would like to get involved or maybe try something new the details for all the village groups can be found via our village website www.allington.uk or our bi-monthly newsletter Allington News.
Currently there are no improvement projects planned or under way so this is the ideal time to reach out to residents to gain a real sense of what the village wants.
We are considering many ways of gathering information from as many residents as possible so please watch out over the coming months for the opportunity to share your thoughts for the village!
We continue to work diligently with our contractors maintaining the public areas around the village, cutting the grass, trimming the hedges, doing maintenance and making repairs as needed.
Allington has twice won the best kept village award and we want to continue to keep up high standards.
2025 may be another challenging year in common with most local authorities however we will aim to deliver value for money and stretch our small budget to go as far as possible to benefit our community. This may limit us in some of the things we would like to do but submitting balanced accounts for scrutiny, alongside wise expenditure is very important.
The issues with restricted access to the village due to flooding have been taken up on many occasions with the relevant authorities and we will continue to push hard for improvements to this most challenging issue.
Speeding through the village and particularly Sedgebrook Road continues to cause concern, as does the speed limit along Peach Lane. Shortly we will be writing to Lincolnshire County Council to see if they have ideas and funding to ease these concerns and will suggest there is a site visit, so they can see the problems first hand.
This year sees the 80th anniversary of the Victory in Europe (8th May) and the Victory in Japan (15th August) and we will be working with the various village groups who we hope will put on activities to help commemorate these anniversaries. Suggestions on ways to do so will be most welcome.
Finally, as a reminder the public are encouraged and always welcome to attend and ask questions prior to the start of each Parish Council meeting. Dates, agendas and minutes can be found at https://allington.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk and on the Parish Council notice board at the village green. We welcome hearing your comments and concerns.
Should you wish to contact the Parish Council on any subject please do so via the Parish Clerk who can be emailed at parish.clerk@allingtonpc.org.uk
Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2025!
Yours sincerely,
Allington Parish Council
